We all have them – half skeins, bits and ends – too much to throw away, but how do you plan a project when you don’t really know how much yarn you have on hand? The answer is a kitchen scale! Figuring out how much yardage you have left in your ball of yarn is easy when you weigh it.
Just look at the label and see how many ounces and yards (or grams and meters) it originally contained. Then weigh the remainder on your kitchen scale. Multiply the ounces/grams remaining in your ball by the original yardage/meters of the full skein, and then divide that total by the original amount the full skein weighed. The result is the length left in your ball!
Quicker and easier than a yardstick, and much better than getting to the end of a project and coming up 10 yards short! And best of all, kitchen scales are very affordable! Click the affiliate links below to find the best selling kitchen scales in your area!
