Colorful Crochet: 35 designs to bring the benefits of color into your life by Emma Leith

Colorful Crochet: Bring more color into your crochet with these 35 bright and beautiful patterns.

Imagine you are in the yarn store or searching for supplies online—do you instinctively go for the reds and pinks, naturally veer towards soft blues and greens, or head to the dark side of grays and blacks? The relationship between colors and our state of mind is well established, but we don’t often consciously notice how much different colors affect us or understand why we favor some over others. Emma Leith is known for her colorful crochet, and has designed 35 projects that will bring you the psychological benefits of working with different shades, along with the enjoyment of creating beautiful items for the home and to wear. There is a chapter for each season, to reflect the colours of nature in spring, summer, fall, and winter, and then a chapter of “four seasons” designs, showing you how to mix shades from different times of the year. With notes on the color therapy benefits of different patterns, and suggestions for switching shades to suit your own preferences, you will soon be crocheting in full color.

Learn Tunisian Crochet in the Round by Sandy Walker

Tunisian Crochet in the Round is filled with step-by-step photos and instructions to create square blocks with beautiful graphic designs! The basic differences between regular Tunisian and Tunisian in the Round (TITR) are that the stitches are picked up on the forward pass and worked off on the return pass differently. Regular Tunisian crochet uses 1 hook, 1 ball of yarn, and the work is never turned. TITR uses 2 connected hooks, 2 ball of yarn, and the work is turned. With Regular Tunisian the forward and return pass are worked on the right side facing, and with TITR the forward pass is worked on the right side and the return pass on the wrong side. The book includes an 11-Step Photo Tutorial for Tunisian in the Round, and sections that explain how to read stitch charts for TITR, plus a section outlining tools, Tunisian Stitches, and Techniques for Tunisian in the Round. 15 different stitch blocks have the same number of rounds used so blankets can be easily made larger or smaller by altering the number of blocks. Blocks include Fair Isle, Elephants, Hearts, & more. Includes 2 afghans, 2 baby blankets, and 2 tote bags.

Birds, Butterflies & Little Beasts to Knit & Crochet by Lesley Stanfield

Crochet birds, insects, butterflies, dragonflies, flowers, leaves, shells, pebbles and other objects that form the natural world. Use them to decorate your clothes and accessories, to give as gifts – or to decorate your gift wrap and greeting cards – and to collect as a creative display piece.

Every one of these cute little beasties is thoughtfully displayed in a directory at the front of the book. And each is cross-referenced to a complete pattern and – for the majority of crochet designs – a chart at the back. Information on stuffing, finishing, and other techniques are also included.

You’ll also find a mixture of fun and fabulous ideas for using the creatures in a range of styles and settings: as seasonal decorations, quirky homewares or elegant accessories.
